The Day I became Boss

A lot can happen in 20 seconds. For me, it expedited my whole career trajectory timeline. It was the best impulsive 20 seconds of my life up until that point. It was a Sunday when I drafted my resignation email and set it to schedule later that evening prior to my Monday meetings šŸ˜¬. It wasnā€™t until the wave of relief rushed through my body that I became obsessed with wanting to help those who struggled advocating for themselves within the workplace. I craved the need to help people get out of the toxic cycles they found themselves in with their bosses who had poor boundaries & manipulative tactics. I knew exactly what type of therapist I didnā€™t want to be or become, so I chose to move in ways that aligned with my values & beliefs as a therapist. I chose to be my own bossā€¦(again). After launching a side business called Shrink Designs, helping other therapists and wellness professionals with website design & interior design for their private practices, I felt so empowered.

The support Iā€™ve received throughout this process has been something I canā€™t quite find words for. People who believe in you, at times, more than you believe in yourself is something I would encourage everyone to find. My support network is the sole reason I was able to get to where I am today and the reason Iā€™ll keep striving for more, tomorrow. The day I became my own boss was a funny reality. I went from working my ā€œflexibleā€ pre-set schedule to working 24/7 and am somehow content in the chaos of it all. Thatā€™s what success is to me. Being able to be content while accepting the growing pains along the way. Accepting that failure is apart of the process, not a roadblock. I believe everyone is capable of curating the future of their dreams as long as they are wanting & willing to accept the challenges along the way. The day I became my own boss, was the best choice I could have ever made. The only regret I have, is not trying to find a way to do it sooner.

Until then, be well & stay grounded.
