Overwhelming Anxiety
We have all felt it. The rush of tension that overcomes our body, making us feel nearly paralyzed. The rush of thoughts that fill our head with overwhelming worries of the worst case scenario. The discomfort is temporary and it will pass..it always does. When we find ourselves in a better mindset, we tend to notice that it comes with less tension in the body, less worries in our head, and more joy in the present moment. We have the ability to choose joy but our mind doesn't go there naturally, and this too is temporary. We just have to take the time to rewire our brain.
This is what anxiety does; it makes us feel incapable, defeated and mentally exhausted. But we are stronger than what our anxiety allows us to feel, we are wiser than our anxiety wants us to know and we have more control over it than we like to think...When we begin to fall into that paralysis of anxiety, it can be crippling...but it doesn't have to be. Think about your patterns of thinking, we generally like to focus on everything that can go wrong but there is a whole part of the narrative that we are missing out on..what if things DON'T go wrong? Have you ever thought about it? What if things turned out just OK, not perfect but manageable. When we’re anxious, we doubt our abilities to problem solve IF something bad were to happen in the future. But what I've personally realized is that "future me" always seems to manage and figure it out (and sometimes I don't, oh well). So stop the ruminating and problem solving for future stress & worries because "future you" will figure it out... or maybe you won't..and that's okay too. We can't be prepared for what life hands us, but we always seem to manage better than we think we can.
So have more hope in yourself, be more confident in your abilities and choose joy. I know this is easier said than done but it's also not impossible. Envision a life with lower stress levels and an increased ability to tolerate the uncertainty of each day.
Be Well & Stay Grounded.
